Episode 105 – Falling into Tribal Traps

Tribal traps that will cause you to hate your neighbor and destroy your country If someone thinks differently than you, it’s safe to assume they have an evil intent about everything. There are good guys or bad guys and winners or losers. Letting the other side take control is the path to catastrophe, sacrifice everything to avoid that kind of crisis. Be suspicious of anyone willing to compliment or compromise with the other side. They are drifting towards the enemy and wish to bring you with them.
Clear choices and simple solutions inspire confidence. The only reason we ever lose is due to a lack of commitment to our core principles. Double down in the face of defeat. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to voter turnout. If you shame the tribe for failing to meet its own ethical standards, excommunication is the only appropriate response.
Mistakes may happen, but evil only exists on the other side. Even if you’re in the wrong, Never give ammunition to the enemy. If you discover that you are in agreement with the majority of the other side, change your view. You have heard that it was said, “Love your enemy and pray for them,” but I tell you, hate your enemies and make them cry, for they will someday persecute you.

I dive into the tribal instincts that live inside all of us that have a good basis, but when embraced can hurt us and those closest to us. I also give a great example of the Socratic method. This episode pairs well with Episode 90 – The Wrong Politics.
